Today, at the vet, they met one black cute lab-mix puppy, about 3 months old, with a new owner. It was very sad to see, that the puppy did not get the proper "mental development" and training from the "breeder". We heard it screaming from one of the rooms when veterinarians, which are very good, tried to make puppy to lie on the back, to be able to check it. There will be so much work for the owner... There will be even much work for the owner, if she will not start socializing, raising, teaching and training the puppy immediately. We do not envy owners that kind of dogs and we do not envy any dogs that kind of "breeders". Poor dog and poor owner!
This will not happen with our puppies, because we had them in our hands, on the lap... on the back and every other position from the beginning on. You can see that on the video after 1:40 where they were checked from the stranger, the tester at their 1st test, the puppy test, performed by Katja Poljšak. They are used to touch and know that it is very nice. Even more, puppies many times search for our attention, for the touch, by themselves. Very cute.
We are still working on with socializing them. Today we noticed that it is high time to take them to the dog school or to the place, where there are other dogs, which our puppies do not know; one by one. At the vet they were behaving like a courageous and powerful pack, barked at the poor lab-mix they heard screaming and made our puppies confused, nervous... They never heard any other dog to cry in that way.
We absolutely adore that they are not afraid of the people, but we would also like, that they will either ignore other dogs completely, or that they will see in other dogs a possibility to play, but only after our approval.
One of the wishes is that they would behave to other animals in need like our adult dogs do: they want to check what was going on with that animal like they would feel compassion. We like that. We do not mind if they are just "nosy parkers", this behaviour just help us to determine quicker who is in need and if anybody is in need. With that kind of behaviour from Heidi, we noticed that the puppy that got injured was Daisy (see the "2012 news"). Thank you Heidi!
It is really high time to take time for them individually! We noticed the problem, we know the goal, now we just have to make the plan and stick on it.
